In a way, is Sherwood dead?

Postby pinkysmith on Fri Aug 29, 2008 2:03 pm

In my opinon, SW is dead in a way. All major clans have left the building. Never see any of the old clans on SW anymore. No well known people still play. I rarely see a war. The community is dying down. This is the only SW forum left ever since Lance's board went off-line.

Yet Sherwood still manages to get so many people to come online. I think Sherwood is now only directed twoards new players.

Dead??

Sherwood will never die.
I guess most of us never really looked closely at SWD. For us, we saw a game that gave use opportunities to
do things that we couldn't in other ones. But saddly we didn't see its scope.

SWD is and was built around an "ever changing" community.

For most of us, our communities have died. SWD lives on with a "new" batch of players / communities.

And, it will continue to change every few years.

(This next part is my Opinion and nothing more.)
This round of players are the "self absorbed" whinny EMO children.
They care NOTHING about the THINGS we do / did. This fact (in and of itself) makes SWD less palatable for
"seasoned" SWD players of "no less than" a year ago.

I don't see it being "compelled" to "pick up" our values. We have to watch as it changes.
Most have seen the changes, know it wont be the way it was, and chose to leave.
Some are trying to fight for the changes that MAY revive our Values....... most who stay,
end up weakening their views, or just giving them up ..... and "going with the flow".

I am 98% gone from SWD, but I still care about it..... and continue to "monitor" its changes.
Who knows........... maybe someday........ we seasoned players... will have a "teleport" of our own.
THERE we can keep with our Values, Clans, Clan Wars..... and such. :-)

Sherwood can't die because mostly it thrives on new players and it still receives a high number of unique views each day.

Players keep accidently clicking the ads, players keep buying mounts and what not.

Those of us that have played Sherwood for awhile are not much cared about, with little to no memory of once legendary players. I have gone through the rooms at least 3 or so times in the last few months and people are new... They have not much history of its old players and we are forgotten. So yes, not to many people care for us you can say.

There are still several elder players still around. They spread around there stories like fire, therefore that's how we are remembered. Although, the community of non-noob members is dieing off rapidly, more and more individuals everyday are becoming smaller minded. (Atleast that's what occurs when I'm around.)

When I am around I see little to no experienced players.

Of course, the rare times I visit Sherwood is at night.

No I mean in Sherwood they used to have annoying birds chripping away as background noise.

I went on the other day and I heard none.

Back on topic though, it is sad. I waited in Sapphire 2 hours in room one. I saw no one I knew in the past. That's one of the main reasons I no longer visit.

really there was no on on room one? are you sure there wasn't an error? There are usually at least 16 players in room one on each server.
